Our Community

Founded in 2015 on a Birthright trip, JewCulture was a result of passionate Jewish students hungry for something more. They loved and valued all that formal Jewish and university organizations downtown offered, but still couldn’t find a fit: They were non-conformers looking to enjoy their friends and be brought back to their roots.
The first JewCulture dinner was in a small, narrow room on Washington Square North, attended by about ten people. Only one year later, JewCulture was blessed to host over one hundred people each Shabbat, having grown from word-of-mouth alone.
But more than attendance numbers, our community has blossomed and strengthened. It metamorphasized from a small, initial group to a powerful, much-talked about dinner where people come knowing they’ll see friends.
